Like old times

Meme and I are both busily filling embroidery orders today. We just realized that today is the first time we've stitched together since we moved the machines off-site last September. Feels like old times.

Not only can you bring your family, they'll treat you like family

One of our favorite things about Fletcher's Pub Oakland Dr. is the family atmosphere. Not only can you bring your family, but I can't think of anywhere that I've been lately where the owner actually comes out and talks with all the tables, like you're family. Their extensive menu and great prices make it hard to decide what to devour.

What's your favorite food at Fletcher's?

Hot Dog!

What's your favorite flavor (of ice cream or hot dog!) to get at Treat Street? Did you know that they have a brand new line up of hot dog offerings??

We LOVE the chili cheese dogs (my family is allergic to beans and let me tell you, it is SO hard to find bean free chili cheese dogs. The meaty sauce from TS is just what my gang loves). A complete meal with chips and jelly beans, it makes everysingle one of us soooo happy. Even our dogs (who actually get their own ice cream cones to devour, courtesy of Treat Street) are thrilled. Have you ever seen a happy Great Dane? It'll make your day, much the way that Treat Street makes ours.

Want to win a gift certificate to Treat Street? They've kindly donated two $10, two $15 and a $20 gift certificate as part of our Oakwood Plaza Father's Day promotion. The one question I've been asked over all others...

Throughout our Juliska event (ending today - it's your last chance to partake in the gift with purchase and other goodies!), the one question that I've been asked more than any other is how Juliska weathers and wears over time. Here's what I've learned: nothing gives something a run for its money like kids and dogs. I've found that this applies to so many things -- dishes, duvet covers, couches, sanity...

I've had my Juliska bamboo dishes since 2011. Aside from one broken plate (which I dropped right on our ceramic tile floor, it never had a chance), my set is still complete and unscathed.

We try to eat together as a family as much as possible, which means we also serve our almost-2-year-old her meals off of our Juliska pretty much every single day as well. The side plate is perfectly sized for her smaller meals. The ramekins are just right for running around. The berry bowl used to be perfect for purees. Even with her love of making music with silverware and place settings, and her ability to tell us that she is all done by throwing her plate around, our Juliska has held its own. When Alice is finished, the plates are pushed to the floor where our dogs down any remaining scraps, and then they're relegated to the dishwasher.

I'm sure Juliska will break, crack and chip eventually. But I've found that it will take quite a beating before it gets to that point. The pieces are beautiful (I truly and thoroughly enjoy eating off of them every day), and they are absolutely meant to be used.

Whether you're contemplating wedding, dining, or entertaining, Juliska IS quite possible the most beautiful (and durable) tableware in the world.

This invitation is definitely for you!

Enjoy entertaining? Looking for a wedding gift you'll delight in giving? Thinking about changing your china? Then this invitation is definitely for you:

DIY Glass Cleaner

Need a great DIY glass, mirror, and chrome cleaner?? Katie, who recently joined our team here at IA, shared one of her favorite recipes* with me: 1 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 cup water, 1 tsp white vinegar. Holy cow! I've been using it for over a week and am amazed at what it can do. With a Great Dane, a Doberman, and a toddler all in one house, our place gets FILTHY -- especially on our sliding glass doors where little hands and noses constantly lurk. But what is really amazing is how beautifully it cleans chrome. It cuts through dust, soap scum, water marks -- you name it. Our bathroom fixtures have never looked so shiny. Keep in mind, I have a big fixer upper of a house, so I'm not worried about ruining anything, so be sure to test inconspicuously before you use it all over the place at your place.

Not into making your own cleaner? Or want one that doesn't smell like cheap college booze? Check out our Mangiacotti Lemon Verbena or Clementine surface cleaner instead -- smells divine and cleans beautifully as well.

*Katie first came across the recipe in "House Works" by Cynthia Townley Ewer. It's also available on CTE's website organizedhome.com
