Have you ever wondered how the Kalamazoo Candle Company makes their amazing candles?  How they come up with such distinctive and wonderful scents?  Where the pictures on the packaging come from and how they're chosen?

Adam McFarlin from the Kalamazoo Candle Company will be joining us at Initial Attraction as part of our Pinterest Party on July 30th.  We asked Adam to join us as he's given Meme and I soooo many tips on burning candles, about which we had absolutely no idea (and you know how much we burn candles at IA).  From wick trimming to preserving the scent to making your candles last longer -- he's a wealth of knowledge on the candle burning front.  He's also going to bring in his candle making equipment and give us a demonstration of what exactly goes into making his phenomenal candles.

We'll be serving a sampling of delicious beverages and appetizers (with recipes on hand for you to take home with you) through the evening.  You'll be the first to try our new Sugarfina candy introductions (Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels and Peach Bellinis) as well. You'll also receive a free Kalamazoo Candle Company candle of your choice (so you can put all your new tricks to good use!).  The Kalamazoo Candle Company is debuting their Fall lineup at our Pinterest Party, so you'll have the first opportunity to sample and smell (and take home) the newest scents for the upcoming season.

Keep in mind, this is just one portion of the evening -- there will be glass painting at Happy Our Art  and a Chalk Painting demonstration at Christy's (with loads of other tips, goodies, and food for you to feast upon) as part of the evening.  You won't want to miss out.

We've been having lots of conversations about wheat and gluten at Initial Attraction lately. As many of you know, Meme and I have both been going wheat free for health reasons. We're astonished, through the course of conversation, by how many of you are cutting the wheat out as well. 

Did you know that Oakwood Bistro has many gluten free offerings and alternatives? We're not just talking about veggie heavy menu items (even though those make us super happy as well!). They also have gluten free pizza crust and sandwich alternatives. For those days when thing only thing that will do is a little pizza (and some wine, of course!).

Quinoa Summer Salad

Had the BEST salad at Fletcher's Pub Oakland Dr. tonight. Meme and I split the Quinoa Summer Salad: mixed greens, quinoa, apples, cranberries, walnuts, and sweet potatoes (with a side of wine, of course). We just might have it for lunch again tomorrow, we both thought it was that good (kind of wish we hadn't split it, actually). Hoping that it's not just a summer salad, but that it becomes part if Fletcher's regular menu.
